Perils and Precedents

The following are NOT necessarily for you to emulate but at the very least it is advised that you have familiarity with what already exists. Identify what is relevant to your own project and also understand the failings that will inevitably be necessary to learn from these precedents.

Section Two should go to the library (yes, you will have to walk there) and get ALL of the XS books and bring them to the studio to peruse and share with colleagues. This series is invaluable to succinctly deal with design projects in First Year.

Some precedents that may prove to be inspirational (please Google these and look them up beyond the images posted):

Eric Owen Moss - The Box: Mariam/Adrian/Katherine/Mitchell (re: form)

Kengo Kuma - House of Water and Glass: Stephen/Katherine (re: views/glazing)

Levitt Goodman Architects - Native Child & Family Services Project: Erik (re: materiality)

Fuller's Structures: Daniel (re: oculi) NOTE: Learn from why it would NOT be appropriate for your design intention)

Erickson's Hilborn House and Eppich House: Farah/Mariam (re: working with natural contexts)
