As all of you are struggling to figure out how to deal with the spatial limitations of the project, many of you have started to think about creating multiple uses/configurations of architectural elements to optimize the writer's studio space. One paradigm would be to look to microapartments and super small living quarters. Though these precedents deal with residential conditions (as opposed to your project which is simply a studio), they have larger programs including laundry, cooking, and full bathroom facilities. Your projects are not as large in scale and scope but certainly can learn a great deal from these projects. A word of caution however is to keep in mind that your focus should be on the architectural design of the space as opposed to the design of new furnishings (a common mistake at this phase). Lastly, those interested in having reconfigurable spaces must find a way to ensure that those configurations are showcased in the final presentation. If you design it, you must draw it.
